On May 17, 2018 the provincial government passed the Insurance (Vechile) Act and the Civil Resolution Tribunal Act which resulted in “caps” for minor injuries to $5,500. It also made most injuries categorized as minor, while restricting compensation for treatment. It also limited the amount a person could claim back if they got extended medical help besides a family doctor. The new law can be tricky to navigate and understand when it comes to your claim. We advise those who are affected by this law to check out the “ICBC’s No-Fault Scheme” on ICBCAdvice.com.
